The hotel is right by the Mediterranean in Talamanca in the south of the island. It is just over a mile (2km) from Ibiza Town – a short hop in a taxi or you can jump on a bus right outside the hotel. While the beach here is not the best in Ibiza, the narrow crescent of sand – flanked by a string of laidback bars and restaurants – is very popular with local families. You can walk along the boardwalk and cut through to the smart Marina Botafoch in 10 minutes, from where you can take the ferry to Formentera or across the harbour to Ibiza Town.

The hotel is a white four-storey complex, with rooms arranged around the two swimming pools and the terraces of the various restaurants. There is a big wow factor as you walk in, with a cleverly-designed, light-filled atrium that sweeps your gaze through to the Mediterranean beyond. Instant relaxation. Natural materials – stone, marble, teak, ceramics, linen and cotton – are used in a cool palette of ivory and taupe hues, with pops of Klein blue, jade and gold adding Ibizan zing. In the inside-outside lobby, chairs and sofas are suspended by ropes for a bit of soothing swaying – mind you don’t spill that mojito.
